Equipment

  • 1 Large mixing bowl
  • 1 Tray for chilling

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups rolled oats old-fashioned or quick oats
  • 0.5 cup peanut butter creamy or crunchy
  • 0.25 cup honey or pure maple syrup
  • 0.25 cup cocoa powder
  • 0.25 cup chocolate chips semi-sweet or dark
  • 0.25 cup protein powder plain, chocolate, or plant-based
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 teaspoon alcohol-free vanilla extract

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine the oats, cocoa powder, protein powder, and salt. Give them a good stir so everything is evenly distributed.
  • Stir in peanut butter, honey, and alcohol-free vanilla extract. Mix well until a sticky dough forms.
  • Add chocolate chips and gently incorporate them throughout the dough.
  • Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions and roll into balls using your hands. If the mixture is sticky, chill for 10 minutes first.
  • Place protein balls on a tray and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes to help them set.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week, or freeze for up to three months. Swap peanut butter for any nut or seed butter, and customize mix-ins as you like.
