Crack Green Beans

Crack Green Beans

  • Total Time: 50 minutes

Ingredients

  • 5 cans (14.5 ounces each) whole green beans, drained
  • 12 slices turkey bacon, cooked and chopped
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter or a light coating of oil to prevent sticking during the caramelization process.
  2. Drain the cans of green beans thoroughly. Spread them evenly across the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the chopped turkey bacon over the top of the beans, ensuring an even distribution so every bite has a bit of smoky flavor.
  3. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Stir until the sugar is mostly dissolved and the mixture is well combined.
  4. Pour the sauce mixture evenly over the green beans and turkey bacon. Use a spoon or spatula to gently toss the beans if you want them fully submerged, though pouring it over the top works well too. Place the dish in the oven and bake for 35 to 40 minutes.
  5. Once the timer goes off, the sauce should be bubbly and the beans should be tender. Give everything one last gentle toss to coat the beans in the thickened glaze before serving warm.
